The summer August recess is here and the lawmakers are back in their constituencies. This is an opportunity for us to meet with them and address our issues and present solutions in preparation for the upcoming CIR. We must push for our agenda to get our provisions in the base bill as CIR is being drafted currently. If we do not get our provisions in the base bill then it is much harder to get them attached to the bill in the form of amendments.
IV therefore requests its members, to call up and start scheduling lawmaker meetings NOW. Please take appointment with your local lawmakers of both houses of Congress. The State Chapters will be organizing state level calls to coordinate this effort. You will be given detailed instructions and given documents to carry for these meetings. Hi - How to complain to USCIS about a fradulant company, What would be the affect of the complain on the employee ? Please advise and provide with any information. I know abot a cheater who exploites innocent students, are there any threads or blogs where there is informtion about fradulant companies, I guess there should be thread about such kind of companes and people running them, so that people do not get into their trap..

My lawyer did NOT fill up I-765 again. That is not required in case of obvious typos or mistakes done by USCIS. She just wrote a letter explaining the error, attached two copies of my wife's photos, and included a copy of proof of identity. (Drivers license copy). No need to write a check, obviously. Also, the letter has to be sent to the service center which issued your EAD card.
I has been about three weeks since the lawyer sent out the letter.. no replacement EAD card yet, but got a couple of LUDs in the past few days.. so I'm hopeful.. let us see..
Will post when we get the EAD card, so other's in the same boat can estimate how long it takes to get EAD cards corrected. Hope his helps..

enggr: You have completed the course in 2000 (per course completion certificate), but your degree was awarded in 2002 after you completed a supplemental exam. Since the position requires a candidate who qualifies for EB2, USCIS will deny your 140 petition. IMHO, you will have to start your green card journey from scratch.

I do have 5 years of exp, but its not progressive to graduation due to the 2000, 2002 issue. Also on the labor certification the employer has mentioned that he is ready to accept any alternative combination of experience/skills. Will this help? Please advice

But please note that I am not trying to propagate that indian culture is best or better etc. I just wanted to share that stem cell related view of mine.

Thats strange.....
What is strange ?? He used PP in June when it was still available. USCIS suspended PP only for new cases to process what they already had.
I can't wait to get the chance to upgrade mine .... not that I will do anything with it for a while (other than H1B extension) but is nice to have the approval in your pocket.

I am curious to know if people are sending amounts >20K by wire transfer to India or other countries from the US. People who do that regularly or have done that in past, have you encountered any problems? Wire transfers are directly informed by the bank to the IRS and you do not have to do it personally right?

I was on L1 got h1b and started working for h1b employer in Oct 2007. meanwhile my wife and kid traveled to India and in Chennai consulate got 221g for latest salary slips in April 2008. in 2 weeks they got h4 stamped. after one year I traveled to India in July 2009 and got h1b stamped.

My EAD is valid till August 10, 2010. This is my second EAD. 1st filed with I-485 in 2007 and second renewed in 2008.
First Renewal Attempt :
I therefore sent my papers to my employer in early April 2010 (120 days in advance). My employer to 10 days to file with USCIS (Snail Mail - Phoenix Lockbox). Then USCIS took another 30 days to look at my papers. They rejected it. Reason :
The check amount is incorrect, or has not been provided. Please review the Form Instructions for fee information. Please resubmit the application/petition package with the appropriate fees to the USCIS address listed on the bottom of this notice.
The eligibility code you provide on your I-765 requires proof that an I-485 has been submitted. Please resubmit your Form I-765 with a copy of your Form I-485 receipt notice (I-797).
Turns out my employer did provide checks were provided in the correct amount but the name on the check was incorrect "USCIS Vermont Office"...Go figure.
Further, I had never received my I-485 receipt notice in mail (filed when the flood gates opened in July/August 2007). I had however received my ASC FP notice and had used it in my previous EAD renewal in 2008. I had sent in a copy of this with my paperwork. That did not seem to have worked. So I called USCIS NSC and they informed me that I need to attach a cover letter with my application explaining that I did not receive the I-797 for the I-485.

So this time, I filed my application to the Phoenix Lockbox myself via snail mail (never efiled so thought why take a chance). I sent my own checks payable to "US Department Of Homeland Security" as mentioned in the I-765 instructions. This new app reached USCIS on June 1, 2010.
It got rejected again and reached me yesterday on June 19, 2010. Reasons...Exactly the same as before.
Needless to say, I was confused, frustrated, angry, sad...and everything in between.
Starting Third Attempt :
Given that only 50 days are left for my current EAD to expire. I e-Filed again yesterday (June 20 2010) hoping that by doing so, I will bypass the Phoenix Lockbox and will avoid the reason for rejection regarding the check.
I will be mailing my supporting documents tomorrow. They will reach USCIS on June 22 2010. The only thing/s addtional that I am sending in now are...
a) The top tear-off from the original EAD mailer (had forgotten to send it in last two times as I thought it was not necessary)
b) A request for correction on the eFiled EAD as I mentioned "Country Of Citizenship" as "USA" instead of "India" (Thanks to my frustrated mood and the poor usability of the I-765 online form).
Request advice...
I know that I will have to stop working on August 11 2010 and I can't earn for as long as I don't have a valid EAD in my hand. I also know that it does not affect my Green Card I-485 app as long as I don't work without and EAD.
So what should I do from here on? Should I wait...I still have 50 days to hope to get my renewed EAD in. The USCIS cannot be blamed for the quota mess. That is set by Congress. Now you can legitimately accuse them of sloth and indifference. But not greed. They're not a profit center for the US.
The right place to lobby for change is in Congress. As I've stated in other posts, the appetite doesn't seem to be there right this instant. Maybe if the economy comes roaring back in a couple years, then the political tide will once again turn in favor of reform.

Funniest thread and indeed your reply was the funniest for today. I cant stop laughing..really.. you answered so seriously but yet hiding so much humor in it.. wonderful.
Isn't there an online community for people from andhra? why chose IV for these prayer requests? Previously it was praying for SRK who apparently got raped at the POE and now for all dead people??
Even the thread anouncing the members who got freedom this month is being drowned by these discussions. There is enough to celebrate this month...lot of our brothers / sisters have been greened...let us celebrate their freedom and forget our misseries for some time.
Laloo made Bihar the laughing stock of India...following Laloo....YSR and his cronies were on there way to do so for Andhra Pradesh ...Good Riddance..God got rid of this guy. We want to see India and AP like Switzerland and US not like Somalia.
